Newly wed Sania Mirza (Sania Babhi as she is fondly called Pakistan) arrived in Pakistan with husband Shoaib Malik and was happy about the warm welcome she received. The tennis player and husband Shoaib Malik were spotted walking hand in hand into Karachi airport’s international arrival lounge. But with not much security around they were soon surrounded by airport staff and passengers. The couple was taken by surprise; looking bewildered by the apparent chaos they were lead to the domestic departure lounge under tight security to board their connecting flight to Islamabad. “Like in Bollywood movies, the security here also has come late”, commented the pretty bride.

The couple was described as “state-level guests of the government”, by a Sindh minister and indeed that is the case. Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has organized a reception for the couple in Islamabad. The couple will attend the function and visit the Indian high commission to sort out the problem related to Sania’s visa. According to mission officials, the high commissioner was expected to meet the couple the next day.

Shoaib’s family will host a wedding reception on April 25th at their hometown Sialkot and another one in Lahore two days later. More than 2,000 policemen will guard the reception venue, told Lahore police chief Pervaiz Rathore. Sindh sports minister Muhammad Ali Shah gifted a traditional Sindhi shawl, a cap and a bouquet to the couple. The groom Shoaib Malik in an interview said that he and Sania had never expected such a hearty welcome in Pakistan.
